It’s not everyday you come across a tool so graceful, so beautiful, so well designed that you just have to look at it in awe. This chasing hammer is that tool. How can anyone not love the graceful lines and simplicity of design that this hammer has to offer?
If you are anything like us, you are in awe of a beautifully crafted tool. This Fretz chasing hammer is one of those tools. This chasing hammer is just so pretty that it seems almost a shame to use it…
The head of this hammer is made of polished stainless steel, not normal or carbon steel like most other chasing hammers. The head is 1 1/8 inches (29mm) in diameter and the ball pein is 12 mm. The head is lightly domed and is like a mirror finish.
The handle is made from rosewood, is masterfully formed and is just a gorgeous design. You might be able to tell that I like it!
The price may put some people off but realistically if you do jewelry making as a serious hobby and especially as a professional, the price of this chasing hammer is very little. The only time I’d say you might want to consider not buying this hammer is if you work with a group of other jewelsmiths. If that’s the case, this tool will make you the envy of your peers and will with all likelihood end up on someone else’s bench. How did that get here??
This hammer is just so gorgeous and well-designed that we have no choice but to give it the honor of editor’s choice for this category.
